 EMOTIONAL HEALTH

Make each month in the year 2009-2010 your time to practice good character, good behavior, and ethical choices.  The character trait for November 2009 is CITIZENSHIP - Accept the rights, privileges and responsibilities of living in our community & country!

Our Emotional Health initiative has become very popular with the students.  They are eagerly trying to get "caught" displaying that month's character trait.  Every staff member at New Dominion and the bus drivers are given a monthly allotment of character traits cards to distribute to students who are consistently displaying that character trait.  There is a different character trait for each month. There is no limit to the number of cards a student can earn. The students place their cards in a box for a chance to win prizes at the end of the month.

Three students won gift bags full of goodies for showing Cooperation during the month of October:

                                                           Brandon Crosby
                                                           DeAndre Pierce
                                                            Adamma Cain

Flu Precautions

Parents should be mindful, as school begins, of the recommended precautions that should be taken in light of the H1N1 virus (swine flu). Families should ensure that children have received all recommended immunizations. To help contain the spread of the H1N1 virus, it is important to limit contact with others and to stay home from school or work when certain symptoms appear, including fever, cough, sore throat, headache, chills, fatigue, and body aches. Parents should plan now how to manage if a student is home with the flu for several days during the school year. Families should also remind children of the importance of hand washing and covering the mouth when coughing or sneezing. The health and safety of all students and staff is always of the utmost importance.
